What is it?

Vodacom allows every Prepaid, Top Up and Contract subscriber to register an email account on the vodamail.co.za domain. Stay in touch with friends, family and business contacts through convenient email communication which you can access via web or WAP.

 

There are 2 options to choose from:

  • Vodacom FREE Email

This FREE service will guarantee you 3 GB of mailbox space, FREE SMS notifications sent to your cellphone and 2 personalised email signatures.

  • Vodacom Premium Email

The Premium email service will be charged for on a monthly subscription of R29, but you will have 5 GB of mailbox space, FREE SMS notifications and 2 personalised email signatures.

 

Why should I use Vodacom Email?

The email account will also offer:

  • Maximum email size (mail body plus attachments) of up to 1 GB Spam protection.
  • Virus scanning and protection of all in-bound mail (all incoming mail to be scanned and automatically cleaned of viruses).
  • Ability to create subfolders within the email account and move selected emails to selected folders.
  • Up to 5 email aliases, with your primary address being your MSISDN (e.g. 0825555555@vodamail.co.za).
  • SMS-based alerts indicating:
  • Received emails.
  • Mailbox utilisation, amount of emails and amount of unread emails.
  • Access to email via your cellphone

 

Web-based access to email will be via vodamail.co.za WEB portal or on WAP via Vodafone Live!

You will have to log in with the vodamail.co.za details to gain access to your email account.

The same functionality will be offered on both the FREE Email service and the Premium Email service.

 

You will have access to the following email functionality:

  • Send emails to one or many recipients that could include the message as well as attachments
  • Ability to add and select a recipient from the current Vodamail Address book via the email user interface
  • Ability to add the email address of a received mail to the Vodamail Address book
  • Availability of the following fields: From: (Selected Display name),To:, CC:, Bcc:, Subject
  • Option to choose from one of two email signatures
  • Ability to receive emails and view associated attachments
  • Reply
  • Reply to all
  • Delete
  • Forward
  • Print
  • Mark as spam
  • View attachments provided that your computer has the required software installed.

 

How do I get Vodacom Email?

Activate via your cellphone:

  • Dial *111# and chooses “Settings”
  • Select “WAP Settings” and select your handset from the list
  • WAP handset settings are sent to your cellphone and provisions the internet APN

 

Accessing the FREE Email service from your cellphone:

  • Dial *111# and chooses 8 “Email”
  • Select 1 to access your email account
  • Click on the WAP link received to access the home page to register and/or access your email account

 

Setting up your email via MyVodacom from your computer:

  • Contract and Top Up subscribers can access the Vodamail website. If you have not registered with Vodamail, you will be required to do so first. Once the account has been successfully activated, you will receive an SMS confirmation and password.
  • Log in with your username and password. Once you have access to your account details, you can select the messaging tab

 

You may not have more than one Vodacom mail service simultaneously, however you will be able to migrate between service offerings, but you may not request service activation of a 3GB mailbox while still provisioned with a 5GB mailbox service.

How much does it cost?

  • When using Vodacom’s FREE Email service, you will only pay for data usage
  • Vodacom’s Premium Email will be charged for on a subscription basis of R29 monthly, as well as data usage
  • SMS notifications sent to your cellphone are FREE

 

The data usage will be charged at the data rates applicable to your specific package or applicable price plan.

All SMS notifications will only be sent to the cellphone number used to register for this service.
